MULTIPLE PERSONS ARRESTED ON SEPARATE AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND BURGLARY CHARGES

Harrisburg, PA – Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that Harrisburg Police have arrested several individuals on separate burglary and aggravated assault charges.

Reed said on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at approximately 6:37 p.m., police were called to the area of 16 Row Hall Manor for reports of shots fired. Two 16-year-old male subjects had allegedly approached a group of individuals in the area and began making derogatory comments. One of the juveniles punched one of the victims in the face.

The altercation further escalated and a gun was produced and was fired into the crowd of people. Nobody was struck by any of the gunshots. An intensive investigation by Harrisburg Police ensued.

On Thursday, March 27, 2008, one of the juveniles was arrested on Cloverly Road. A semi-automatic weapon was also recovered from that area. The juvenile has been charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, several firearms violations, and recklessly endangering the welfare of another person. He is being held at the Schaffner Youth Center and will be charged as an adult.

Reed said Harrisburg Police are still looking for the second male suspect at this time, who will also be charged as an adult when arrested.

The Mayor said two 13-year-old juveniles were separately arrested for their involvement in a burglary that occurred on Thursday, March 27, 2008, at around 7:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of Green Street.

Harrisburg Police responded to the area at that time and, upon arrival, located the subject who was involved in the break-in. The juvenile fled upon seeing police but were soon captured in the 2400 block of North 3rd Street. A second juvenile was detained at the scene by the victim of the burglary. That juvenile was also taken into custody.

Reed said both of the 13-year-olds were charged with burglary and were later released to their parents. Police believe that two other juvenile males were involved in the burglary and their identities are being investigated by detectives.
