TWO UNRELATED OVERNIGHT SHOOTINGS LEAVE ONE MAN DEAD, ONE INJURED
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that Harrisburg Police are investigating two unrelated overnight shootings, one that left a man dead and another that resulted in minor injuries. The first shooting occurred at 8:42 p.m. on Wednesday night (10/24) in the 1800 block of Brookwood Street. The victim, Eric D. Cooper, 33, of the 5000 block of Winding Way in Lower Paxton Township, was shot multiple times. Cooper was immediately transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead upon arrival. Mayor Reed said that City Police have been actively investigating the homicide since the first calls came in last evening. Authorities have also been reviewing video surveillance footage from nearby buildings and believe this may help the investigation. Police have not released the names of any suspects. Police are looking for a newer-model black SUV with chrome wheels, running boards, and a roof rack. A second shooting occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday night (10/24) in the 500 block of Forrest Street. The victim, Jeremy Evans, 23, of the same block, was shot once in the torso. He was transported to a nearby hospital, treated, and released. The Mayor said City Police are continuing the investigation of this incident, which appears to have been a home invasion robbery involving four suspects wearing ski masks, who came into the property looking for money. Any persons with information on either of the overnight shootings can confidentially call City Police at 255-3131.
