SAFE HAVEN QUALITY CARE OPENS ON ALLISON HILL; INNOVATIVE COMPANY PROVIDES PERSONAL HOME CARE

Mayor Stephen R. Reed today dedicated the new Safe Haven Quality Care LLC company at 1319 Derry Street in Allison Hill. The innovative new personal care business provides non-medical in-home services to the elderly and disabled.

Reed said Safe Haven Quality Care is owned and operated by Leslie and Sandra Hardy, and provides new and part time employment for 4 new employees, as well as outplacement services for 10 Certified Nurse Assistants. The new company occupies nearly 1400 sq. ft. of newly restored office space, and represents a private investment by the pair of more than $45,000.

The Mayor said the Hardys are extremely qualified in their chosen fields, with Safe Haven President Leslie Hardy holding two degrees in Business Administration. He has been the owner of a successful debt and recovery company, was Chairman of the Jacksonville, FL Human Rights Commission, Chairman of the Mayor’s Disability Council of Jacksonville, and Program Director for the Lutheran Social Services’ HIV and AIDS Care in Jacksonville. He currently serves as the Director of Training for the South Allison Hill-based Community Action Commission in Harrisburg.

Reed said Safe Haven founder and CEO Sandra Hardy also holds two degrees in human and workforce development, and served in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Bureau of Employment Security for ten years. She has 12 years experience in private and post-secondary education, and most recently served as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Jacksonville Area Agency on Aging. She has also served as a Program Director for the Ameri-Corps and Senior Companion Programs.

Mayor Reed said the new company provides Personal Care, Respite for Caregivers, Home-Making Chores, Errands and Companionship services to clients. The company’s goal is to ensure that clients be enabled to remain in their own homes, rather than being institutionalized or isolated, through personal in-home services that clients can no longer perform for themselves.

The company plans to establish a Drop-In Center for elderly Allison Hill residents, the formation of a “loan closet” for durable, in-home medical equipment, and a resource center for the disabled to access needed benefits and services.

“Safe Haven Quality Care is clearly dedicated to the betterment of the condition and circumstance of life for our community’s elderly and disabled,” said Mayor Reed. “They bring extensive professional experience to a very innovative human service oriented business, and we are confident in their future success.”

“We are excited about this new opportunity to help our community thrive and grow,” said founder and CEO Sandra Hardy. “We look forward to providing much-needed services that will allow our neighbors and their families to remain independent, safe and happy in their own homes.”
