HOMICIDE SUSPECT ISHAQ LEWIS CAPTURED BY CITY POLICE

Harrisburg, PA—Mayor Stephen R. Reed this evening reported that Homicide suspect Ishaq Abdule Lewis, age 22, was arrested without incident today by Harrisburg City Police. Lewis has been sought since September 30 in connection with the fatal shooting of Christopher E. McDonald, age 22, as well as the shooting of Derrick A. McDonald, 18, and Ryan J. Strain, 23.

Reed said Lewis now faces multiple charges, including Criminal Homicide, 3 counts of Aggravated Assault, 8 counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person, 2 counts of Convict Not To Possess A Firearm, 2 counts of Attempted Homcide, 2 counts of Carrying a Firearm Without A License, 2 counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver Drugs(crack and heroin), 2 counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Terroristic Threats, Resisting Arrest and Conspiracy to Commit Multiple Traffic Law Violations.

The Mayor said city police today received a citizen tip in the case around 3 p.m. this afternoon, identifying Lewis’s whereabouts and what he was wearing. More than a dozen city police officers promptly responded to the location at 638 Seneca Street, where Lewis was found hiding in an open garage bay. Though in possession of a 380. caliber handgun, more than $500 worth of Crack Cocaine, and $360 worth of heroin, Lewis was taken into custody without incident.

“This ends a long and intensive manhunt by Harrisburg City Police,” said the Mayor. “Lewis had vowed not to be taken alive and was considered extremely dangerous. We are pleased he is finally in custody, and that no one was injured in the process.”

Mayor Reed said Lewis was being sought in connection with the brazen daytime shooting of the three victims, which occurred near 13th & Hanover Streets in South Harrisburg. All three of the victims were seated in an automobile when Lewis opened fire, killing McDonald and injuring his younger brother and Strain. The vehicle then drifted into a city school bus which was unloading children at the time.

Police are continuing their investigation and still have no motive for the slayings. Lewis is refusing to cooperate with police and was just arraigned in night court and remanded without bail to the Dauphin County Prison to await a preliminary hearing.
