Reed said that sixteen players and eight coaches received the rings, the design for which was selected by the players. The Mayor noted that the Harrisburg High School Boy’s Basketball team has twice now swept state honors, and were rewarded both times with new rings. “Its only fit and proper that the Lady Cougars also be recognized for their historic accomplishment,” said the Mayor, “as they were clearly the best Girls’ team to ever play for the Black and Silver.” “Each of these young women have displayed the highest ideals of hard work, dedication and teamwork, and each serves as an inspiration for both students and adults. We are very proud of them. They have brought honor and distinction to our city.” Receiving rings today were players Aiesha Bellamy, Ashlee Finley, Latasha Frye, Tara Gaston, Aries Gibson, Ruby Graves, Stevi Hall, Shahara Johnson, Ryan Lewis, Lady Lockhart, Cherese Milton, Alana Randall, Shaka Ritter, Adrean Rogers, Erica Williamson and Tyesha Windham, as well as coaches James Batte, Damita Bullock, Jeffrey Chisholm, Tarina Fields, Ray Isom, Erin Moore, head coach Larry Moore, Jr., and Harrisburg School District Athletic Director Kirk Smallwood.
