THE NEW PAPINE JAMAICAN RESTAURANT OPENS IN MIDTOWN

Harrisburg, PA—Mayor Stephen R. Reed today conducted the ribbon cutting for the New Papine Jamaican Restaurant at 1100 N. Third Street in the city’s midtown neighborhood. The distinctive new ethnic eatery features authentic Jamaican and Caribbean cuisine set in a unique tropical atmosphere.

Reed said the New Papine Jamaican Restaurant is owned and operated by Jacqueline Alexander and Peta Gaye Henny, and represents private investment supplemented with a loan from the city’s Business Revolving Loan Fund.

The New Papine’s occupies approximately 1,800 square feet of restored space and provides seating for up to 40 persons. Take-out services will also be offered at the restaurant, as will catering and other specialty services. Three to four new full and part time positions are initially created by the project, with additional employees likely to be added in coming months.

New Papine’s specialties include Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken and Curry Goat along with other dishes. Diners can contact Papine Jamaican Restaurant at (717) 909.0888, or by faxing their order to (717) 920.9117. Papine’s is open Mondays through Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to Midnight, and Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.
