NEW SUBWAY SANDWICH SHOP OPENS AT MT. PLEASANT PLAZA ON S. ALLISON HILLHarrisburg, PA—Mayor Stephen R. Reed today conducted the ribbon cutting services for the new Subway Sandwich Shop in the Mt. Pleasant Plaza retail complex at S. 13th and Derry Streets in the city’s South Allison Hill. Reed said the new Subway Sandwich Shop is owned by principals Conrad and Craig Lewis and Latasha Gantz, who bring more than twenty years in retail management and entrepreneurship to the project. Eight new full and part time jobs are created by the newly-opened 485 sq. ft. Subway franchise, which provides seating for up to twenty-five patrons. Financing for the $115,000 project included $40,000 in private investment, in addition to loan financing provided by the City of Harrisburg($15,000), the Community First Fund($25,000), and Waypoint Bank($35,000). The Mayor said the new restaurant is part of the respected national chain of Subway restaurants, and offers the same health-conscious foods and services. The Atkins Diet approved menu includes sandwiches, wraps and salads, and is available for school lunch programs, catering and giant subs, and fundraising special events. The Mt. Pleasant Plaza Subway shop additionally offers fax ordering. Reed said the new restaurant can be contacted at (717) 909.5582, or via fax at (717) 909.6589. The conveniently located eatery provides plenty of free parking and has very customer friendly operating hours of 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week. The new restaurant is in the new Mt. Pleasant Plaza, the largest new neighborhood retail center built in the city in years and which completed construction last year. It has become a commercial anchor in Allison Hill and is part of the overall neighborhood renewal initiatives taking place citywide, Reed said. “With the buying and spending power of city residents in their own neighborhood areas, there is a clear market for neighborhood-based small business enterprise. We seek to encourage many more business start-ups in neighborhoods. It allows us to use our own economic power to enhance our own neighborhoods. That makes common sense and it is enlightened economic development policy,” Reed said. XXX |
