RESTORED SECOND COURT COMPLEX PROVIDES UPSCALE MIDTOWN LIVING

Harrisburg, PA—Mayor Stephen R. Reed today conducted the dedication of the new Second Court building at 1419 N. Second Street in the heart of Midtown. The elegantly restored complex provides eighteen upscale apartments and four commercial office suites near the strategic intersection of N. Second and Reily Streets, just a few blocks from the Broad Street Market, Midtown Cinema and other attractions, and one block from the waterfront and Riverfront Park.

Reed said the Second Court complex is owned and operated by the Bennett Land Development company, whose principal is noted city entrepreneur Camille Bennett. Previously housing a furniture showroom and warehouse and in recent years vacant, the signature Midtown building underwent more than $750,000 in new private investment by Bennett.

The Mayor said Second Court houses both fourteen one-bedroom and four two-bedroom units. The 33,000 sq. ft. structure received new plumbing, electrical and other basic systems upgrades, in addition to substantial aesthetic and tenant convenience amenities. The complex includes an exercise facility and laundry area for exclusive use by tenants, 24-hour property management, telephone and cable-ready services. Access to the site is controlled by a state-of-the-art security system, and off-street parking is provided in a newly-resurfaced parking lot adjacent to the building off of both Penn and Calder Streets.

“This is a magnificent addition to Midtown’s residential and commercial offerings, and our thanks are appropriately extended to Camille Bennett for a truly first-class restoration effort,” said the Mayor. “This private development project sets a high standard for large-scale neighborhood renewal projects and we are delighted with the results.”

Bennett said rents at Second Court are very reasonably priced, and the office space is being offered at the extremely affordable rate of only $10 per sq. ft., with available spaces ranging from 1200 to 7500 sq. ft. As an added benefit, all new commercial tenants will receive two months rent free.
