Discarded Christmas Trees To Be Collected By City
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today advised city residents that the City will again provide free pick-up services for discarded Christmas trees throughout the month of January. City crews will follow a street or neighborhood’s normal recycling pick-up day schedule to collect the trees, which residents are directed to place at their front curbside only on the day of their regular recyclable materials collection day.

All Invited to M&T Bank Harrisburg New Year’s Eve Celebration in Historic Market Square
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today invited residents and visitors throughout the region to the M&T Bank Harrisburg New Year’s Eve Celebration in historic Market Square. The free event, which celebrates the end of 2003 and the start of 2004, features live music, food, children’s entertainment and a wide array of other events and activities, all of which conclude at midnight with the descent of a giant illuminated strawberry cow and fireworks high above Market Square.

City Holiday Decorating Contest Winners Announced
An array of businesses, children and city government center offices were recognized today by Mayor Stephen R. Reed as winners in various city holiday decorating contests. The winners were presented with their awards during a special holiday program in their honor at the Rev. Dr. M.L. King Jr. City Government Center. The decorating competitions were first created by the Mayor in 1995, to coincide with the city’s annual Holiday Parade, which annually kicks off the midstate’s Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/New Year’s season.
