‘ALLEY ON 2nd’ JOINS RESTAURANT ROWHarrisburg, PA—New life was breathed into what had been a vacant Market Square eatery today as Mayor Stephen R. Reed conducted grand opening ceremonies for the distinctive new ‘Alley on 2nd’ Restaurant at 17 S. Second Street and Blackberry Alley. The new full-service restaurant provides breakfast, lunch and dinner dining. Mayor Reed said the ‘Alley on 2nd’ is owned and operated by MRG Partners L.P., whose principals include Nazir, Yvonne, Rizwan and Abeda Moosa. The four partners collectively have dozens of years of experience in the restaurant and culinary arts business. More than $100,000 in improvements and rehabilitation were expended on the 2,800 square foot site, including a $25,000 loan from the city’s Revolving Loan Fund. The site, located in the historic Menaker Building on Market Square, had been vacant since the late 1990’s when the Chez Nous restaurant that was previously located there closed. Reed said the distinctive new restaurant provides for seven new full and part time jobs. Boasting an extensive menu of affordable, eclectic international cuisine, the Alley on 2nd serves sandwiches, flat bed pizzas, wraps, salads, homemade soups and much more. Offsite catering is also provided, and groups are always welcome. The restaurant has seating for 50 and serves breakfast and lunch six days a week, with dinner provided Thursdays through Saturdays. “We are delighted to welcome this distinctive new dining experience to downtown Harrisburg’s expanding Restaurant Row District,” said Mayor Reed. “The Moosa’s extensive experience in the food service industry, combined with a diverse and expansive menu and a strategic location are all the necessary ingred- ients of a recipe for success. We wish them well and encourage diners through- out the midstate to come experience this newest of culinary attractions in Pennsylvania’s Capital City.” The ‘Alley on 2nd’, and its catering operations, can be contacted at 717.233.7107, or by fax to 717.233.7286.
