HARRISBURG TO HOST NATIONAL MINORITY WOMEN’S HEALTH FORUM

Harrisburg, PA—Harrisburg will host the prestigious National Minority Women’s Health Forum on Saturday, September 6, at the Harrisburg Hilton and Towers, Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced. Entitled “Sisters: Take Charge of Your Health”, the daylong national conference empowers women to take charge of their health and lives, in addition to recognizing the many accomplishments of women of color in the midstate.

Reed said the Health Forum will feature such national speakers as D. Gwendolyn Goldsby Grant, columnist for Essence Magazine, and writers Roniece Weaver and Fabiola Gaines, authors of New Soul Food Cookbook for People with Diabetes. The conclave will also feature sessions on health cooking, health screenings, informational workshops, gifts and a soul food luncheon.

“This is an important event for the City of Harrisburg,” said Mayor Stephen R. Reed, “and we are delighted to serve as the host community for such a distinguished assemblage of minority women leaders. The first step to securing a healthier lifestyle is gaining the proper knowledge and information to make informed decisions about your personal health. The National Minority Women’s Health Forum accomplishes this in a very comprehensive way.”

The Mayor said the National Minority Women’s Health Forum is organized by Hebni Nutrition Consultants, Inc. of Orlando, Florida. Previous conclaves have been held in Jacksonville, New York City and Miami, and for the first time, here in Harrisburg. The event is sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield, with additional support being provided WHTM-TV abc27, and 1400 AM The Touch radio.

A special grand door prize for a 4 night, 3 day cruise to the Bahamas from Carnival Cruise Lines will also be awarded to one lucky conference attendee, the Mayor noted, which is being offered by the city-based and minority-owned Ware’s Travel Service.

The Mayor said plenty of space is still available for the Forum, which costs only $15 per person and includes the spectacular soul food luncheon. Interested attendees can contact the Forum organizers at Hebni Nutrition at 1.866.HEBNINC (432.6462), or 407.872.1333, in writing to Hebni at 511 W. South Street, Suite 201, Orlando, FL 32805, or via email at hebni@aol.com.
