NO RESIDENTIAL TRASH COLLECTION THIS WEEK IN HARRISBURG
Harrisburg, PA—Mayor Stephen R. Reed today reported and reminded residents that there will be no residential trash collection this week in the city of Harrisburg.
- Regular service resumes next Monday, February 24, and will follow its normal schedule.
- Commercial trash collection resumed today but is substantially easier to conduct in several concentrated areas, as businesses compact their trash at single locations, which allows for fast and accessible pick-up. Residential trash and recycling pick-up involves traversing literally hundreds of streets involving thousands of individual stops.
- Further, most of the trash vehicle drivers remain pressed into service as snowplow and heavy equipment operators involved in the around-the-clock response to the massive snowstorm, which struck the city and region this week. That operation continues uninterrupted and will remain so all week.
