GOVERNOR’S REGIONAL ECONOMIC SUMMIT POSTPONED

Harrisburg, PA—Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that the Governor’s Regional Economic Summit, set for this Thursday, Jan. 30, has been postponed but will be held on a new date to be announced soon.

The Summit is intended to provide an active interchange between public/private sector and citizen group representatives with Governor Ed Rendell regarding ways to further the economic well-being of the 10-county region of Southcentral Pennsylvania.

A close friend of the Governor, Lucian Blackwell, Philadelphia City Council Member and a former state House Member, died unexpectedly on Friday, with the funeral service scheduled in Philadelphia for Thursday, Jan. 30. The Governor will be providing the eulogy at the service.

Reed said the Governor was willing to come back to Harrisburg for half the Summit, but the local decision was to postpone the event so that the planned full schedule of discussions could proceed with no distractions.

The Summit covers Dauphin, Cumberland, Lebanon, Perry, Franklin, Adams, Lancaster, York, Mifflin and Juniata Counties. Reed is the chair of the event, which is co-sponsored by the Team Pennsylvania Foundation and the South Central Assembly for Effective Governance.
