Donations from Giant Foods, Hershey Medical Center and the Central Pennsylvania Kappa Delta Sorority Alumnae Association will enhance community relations between police and city youth, Mayor Stephen R. Reed today noted during a special presentation of new bicycle helmets and Teddy bears collected by the midstate companies and organizations.

October 18, 2002 — Second Mural Unveiled For Mayor’s Public Art Initiative
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today unveiled the second major new public mural completed as part of the mayor’s citywide Historic Mural Project first launched in July. The newest addition to the public art program is located underneath the Walnut Street Bridge on City Island and depicts a 1,200 sq. ft. baseball scene created by artist Max Mason of Wynnewood, PA.

October 15, 2002 — New Multi-Space Parking Meters To Undergo Trial Run In City; On-Street Parking From Market To Locust To Be First Area In Midstate To Receive New, High-Tech Units
Several dozen parking spaces in downtown Harrisburg will be the first in the midstate to be controlled by new, high-tech, multi-space meters, Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced. The experimental project involves the installation of new meters that will reduce operating, maintenance and administration costs, while increasing unit efficiency and worker productivity.

October 10, 2002 — City Receives Top National Budget Award
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today reported that the City of Harrisburg has received the top national budget award. It is the twelfth consecutive year that the City has received the distinctive national recognition, which is conferred by the respected Government Finance Officers’ Association (GFOA). An independent panel of Certified Public Accountants and fiscal experts reviewed the city’s budget documents before making the determination.
