HARGROVE NAMED ONE OF STATE LEGAL PROFESSION’S “MINORITIES OF INFLUENCE”

Harrisburg, PA—Mayor Stephen R. Reed today lauded the work of Harrisburg civic leader and attorney Trent Hargrove, Esq., who was recently named one of the state’s top lawyers with his selection as one of top 50 “Minorities of Influence” in the Commonwealth. The respected distinction was conferred by the publishers of the legal industry journal American Lawyer Media.

Reed said Hargrove serves as Chief Deputy for the Civil Rights Enforcement section in the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. He has chaired the National Association of Attorney’s General Internet civil rights subcommittee, the mortgage lending task force, and the bias crimes task force. He is also a member of the U.S. Attorney General’s hate crimes working group on state and local law enforcement training.

The Mayor said Hargrove has equally distinguished himself through his important civic endeavors, all of which are voluntary and provide no remuneration for his time and efforts.Hargrove chairs the city’s Harrisburg Authority, which owns the Harrisburg water system and provides water to the city and four surrounding communities, as well as the region’s largest wastewater treatment and conveyance system.

Reed said Hargrove’s more recent accomplishments include his chairmancy of the Harrisburg Board of Control, which has become the governing body of the Harrisburg School District since the state passed special legislation giving the city control of the district in 2000.Hargrove’s oversight of the District has resulted in substantial improvements to the long abused public education system, in therelatively brief period of time of less than two years.

“Trent Hargrove tirelessly serves his community and his profession in a multitude of ways and means,” said Mayor Reed, and all without desiring or receiving any personal gain. I have known Trent for many years and can not imagine anyone more deserving of this special recognition. His influence and contribution have touched the lives of virtually every resident of this city, and we are delighted to note this independent recognition by his peers from across the state.”

“Trent epitomizes the highest ideals of integrity, compassion, dedication and personal sacrifice, and each of us owes him a debt of gratitude for his many years selfless service on behalf of so many.”

Reed said that minorities in the legal profession are elected for inclusion in the American Lawyer Media Top 50 through their accomplishments in their practices or on the bench, their leadership role in their organizations and communities, and their participation in various civic, professional and other committees and task forces that address minority issues.
