Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that Harrisburg Police have made two additional arrests in connection with illegal dumping activities within the city. Both of the individuals involved live in surrounding suburbs and came into the city to illegally dump debris.
Mayor Stephen R. Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that Capital BlueCross has provided funding to the City of Harrisburg to remove the old fitness equipment located throughout Riverfront Park and to replace to it with new, state-of-the-art equipment. Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that Center for Intercultural Education and Development at Georgetown University has brought the first of many groups of foreign students and executives to Central Pennsylvania to visit area businesses and meet with executives as part of a newly-formed partnership between the City of Harrisburg and the Center for Intercultural Education and Development (CIED). Several visits are being planned for the coming year.
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced additional actions that have been taken over the past month to combat illegal dumping that occurs in the City of Harrisburg. Reed said four arrests have been made in connection with seven separate dumping instances. Each offender has been charged with several counts of illegally dumping debris and in at least half of the instances, the offenders are not City residents and traveled from their home community to dump in the City.

The Citys lead abatement efforts were funded this year by a $2.1 million U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Lead Hazard Control Grant and a $249,000 PA Department of Health grant.
