DEMOLITION SPECIALIST I

The City of Harrisburg, Department of Public Works, is currently accepting applications/resumes for the position of Demolition Specialist I. Responsibilities include performing demolition work, including backfilling the site area, in various locations throughout the City. Work involves the use of, but not limited to, shovels, hammer, saws, sledge hammers, tampers, portable mixers, jackhammers, chain saws, air compressors, snow blowers, power operated hand tools and motor vehicles such as pick ups, dump trucks, tractor trailers, back hoes, front end loaders, track hoes, tri-axle dump trucks, snow plows and bulldozers. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Demolition Crew Leader, the Director of the Bureau of Neighborhood Services or his/her designee. This position involves extensive physical activity, often under adverse weather and working conditions. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, 6 months experience in the demolition area preferred and a valid PA Commercial Driver’s License, Class A.

Residency within the corporate limits of the City of Harrisburg is required within one (1) year from completion of probationary period.

We offer a competitive salary package ($30,717.65 increases to $36,138.41 after six months) plus excellent fringe benefits.
